    I guess because animals in movies represent like…. an innocent that isn’t a whining child who makes things worse?
    for me, it’s because I think animals are way better than humans, but that may be because I want to study them at uni and run off to live with them.

    I think, for the most part, this dog dying in the movie is sad for the most because of the connection it shared with the main character. If that dog wasn’t so pleasant, then I don’t imagine the scene would have been as depressing as it was.

    SOOO true, I can watch world war movies and not care but refuse to watch eight below, the final hour, the legend, etc… because the dogs die. Its f***ed up if directors think that is entertainment!
