No f**king clue.
You don’t add the dollar you have back, you add the 2 dollars you gave away. 49+49+2=100, your one dollar you kept you never owed to anybody so it should not be used in calculating the total.
And yes, I am an accountant.
Just change it so you give your dad $1.50 and your mom $1.50 so theres no change left. now you owe them each $48.50.
$48.50 + $48.50 = $97 which was the cost of the shirt.
This is the whole point of accounting, your debts have to match your assets in this situation. Your debts after the whole shibang= 49 +49 owed to each parent which is $98. Your assets after the whole fiasco = 97 dollar shirt and the one dollar you kept = $98. WOW look at that. Money didn’t disappear, the two 49′s are technically negative which is why adding your one dollar doesn’t make any sense.
97/2=48.50 for each parent.
48.5+1=49.5 for each.
Where the f*** that he get 49 for each?
49.5 x 2= 99 for both.
Mine = 1
I wouldn’t pay $97 for a shirt in the first place, that’s where the other dollar went.
